Living like a Myth

What is money? Lately I've been asking myself this question. It seems that money is the thing that divides people, makes some people feel better, more entitled and even smarter than other people who have less.

I wonder what a little child would say if I showed him or her a note of money. I bet the child would call it 'paper. That would make people with lots of 'paper' and an exaggerated sense of 'worth' because of it, seem a little silly. And it would make Daniel Suelo, the man who quit money, seem like one of the smartest men in the world.

Suspend your left-brain for a few minutes, the part in us all that numbly obeys the rules of the world, and consider the possibility that money is just an illusion.

Okay so I'm not sure about living in a cave or eating road-kill but Suelo makes a good point about the real human nature - our inherent desire to give and help each other. Sadly we've been blinded to our natural state by the bright lights of consumerism. There is a price, we're running out of our planet... literally! According to the recently published Living Planet Report, we're using 50% more resources than the Earth can provide. By 2030, even two planets will not be enough! That's no illusion.

So who's really living like a myth, the man who gave up money or us?

The Cat's Whiskers

Friday nights have been redefined! Friday night is art night. Don't bother to invite me out (I only go out on a Friday the 13th anyway), I'll be arting*, on little canvases like this one...

I didn't know what to get a friend of mine for her birthday. Then it hit me, she LOVES her cats (which is far better than hating her cats but you know what I mean). So, like a Facebook stalker, I copied one of her mobile pics, bought a 15x15cm canvas and started painting. This is how last Friday night looked...

Recycled DIY {Customised Envelope}

Last week I made a customised recycled envelope...

I photographed the process and submitted the tutorial for All4Women's Green Tips (see it here). I felt like Martha Stewart and had just started to bask in DIY smugness and when I went an spilt my coffee all over it. Oh well, such is life.

Fetish on Friday

If I hadn't planned to get off the couch and head out into the night on a Friday the 13th (something I don't usually do because I'm sort of a superstitious girl) I wouldn't have seen and heard Fetish's first reunion concert at Mercury.

The road we're on...

I'm concerned about this world. There's so much hype about vampires, a futuristic version of the Roman colosseum, female singers who are role models to little girls, despite the fact that they dress like prostitutes and sing about sex, and men or rap about money and sex.

When you break it down, we're being misled... and we're paying for it, we're addicted to it.

On top of it we have been systematically destroying our planet, the one God gave us to look after, in the name of progress. It's all about money, the root of all evil.

But if you showed a four year old money and asked, "What is this?" He or she would probably say, "Paper."

It's just paper. Remember that. WAKE UP!

Yes, you can call me crazy. It's so much easier to dismiss what I'm saying but remember, if we believe in Jesus, we have to cast off worldly things. These are our 40 days, let's use them wisely.

Happy Easter
