The road we're on...

I'm concerned about this world. There's so much hype about vampires, a futuristic version of the Roman colosseum, female singers who are role models to little girls, despite the fact that they dress like prostitutes and sing about sex, and men or rap about money and sex.

When you break it down, we're being misled... and we're paying for it, we're addicted to it.

On top of it we have been systematically destroying our planet, the one God gave us to look after, in the name of progress. It's all about money, the root of all evil.

But if you showed a four year old money and asked, "What is this?" He or she would probably say, "Paper."

It's just paper. Remember that. WAKE UP!

Yes, you can call me crazy. It's so much easier to dismiss what I'm saying but remember, if we believe in Jesus, we have to cast off worldly things. These are our 40 days, let's use them wisely.

Happy Easter

Couch Therapy {Drawing}

Drawing people is tough, and not just because hands and feet are awkward to capture and I keep messing up proportion, but because few people enjoy sitting still enough to be drawn.

Solution: find your victim on a couch, enthralled by a gripping movie or engrossed in a good book.

This first one (of my Mr) was drawn in pencil.

And this one was drawn in a black pen.

Anyone trying to draw more often and blogging about it? I'd love to visit your blog so feel free to share the inspiration.

*Yawn* Good night.

Take a Seat {Drawing}

A drawing a day for the month of January? What was I thinking?!

Let me tell you that the whole artsy-fartsy thing is a lie... artists are extremely disciplined. Art is hard. But although I've done some waste-of-paper sketches (I might not show you those ones), I've never felt better about a New Year's resolution.

Oh, here's a chair. Bye.

Potato Forest {Drawing}

This is what happens when you buy a big sweet potato, with the intention of roasting it, but then throw oven bake chips in the oven instead because it's faster. Yes, I'm that kind of girl.

Okay, so I'm no Nigella but I have a potato forest. It's okay to feel just a little jealous.

Oh, and this is my first drawing of 2012. I'm trying to complete a drawing a day for the month of January. It's my first self-challenge for the New year and I have to say, it's far more inspiring than trying to lose weight.

Chips anyone?

Inked Petals {Drawing}

Recently decided that I'm going to try being okay with not doing great, thought-provoking works of art. Instead I'm going do what I love. I'm going to draw flowers.

So one Sunday evening, I opened my sketchbook, used these fancy ink pens I bought a while back and drew flowers I bought just to draw. I snapped a picture with my phone and it might not seem 'shoo wow' but I felt hugely inspired afterwards.

It reminded me of what a wise woman once said, after staring into my soul intently for a few intense seconds.  She said, "Monique, you have to create. You NEED to create."

Now that was 'shoo wow.'
